She was able to beat all of previous times for all styles she swam as she had vowed to doing it herself. In spite of swimming against 8 year olds, she was even able to get medals. It was a surprise, especially after a brief heartbreak moment when we thought she had been DQ'd.
In the end her final meet was great!
Quitting swimming was a tough decision at least for me. For her it was easy as soccer has always been her sport #1.
We will miss swimming and the friends we have made. I'm sure she will miss the swim meets, her favorite part. Whereas I am not going to miss the early mornings and the very hot days of the meets! But having her excited and pumped up was a joy to watch.
However, the so called retirement was her choice.
I believe she would have a great future as a swimmer if she devoted herself to practicing 4 times a week like most of the kids do. But swimming ceased to be fun when she realized how much more fun she was having during soccer practices.
She is off to chase her dreams and follow her passion (and mine too!). Because, after all, Brazilian blood runs in her veins!
Joga bonito, Lolinha!
