Gifts for Life

What gifts would you give to your child if you could give anything?

  • Tolerance and respect for others - wars would be rare in this world if we tolerated people that are different from us regardless of religion, social status, color, sexuality.
  • Humility - To be humble about what life reserves to you whether it is good or bad
  • Self-confidence - To grow trusting yourself and not letting anyone put you down. This is road to success in life in general.
  • Optimism - If life gives you lemons, make a lemonade! I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason and that there's always a bright side to each downfall.
  • Sense of Community - Treat the planet Earth well. Don't trash your home, your city, your planet, recycle, don't waste natural resources, obbey laws and work as a group.

You grow up and completely take for granted that a big part of what you are you owe to the teachings of your parents. Few lessons that shaped my life:
  • Be nice to elder people
  • Study hard if you want to succeed and don't depend on any one
  • Be tolerant: friends can be of any color/religion/status. My favorite toy was my black baby called Haroldinho! My best friend from 1st grade was an Indian girl.
  • Do the right thing - don't steal, don't lie, don't cheat.
  • Be polite - that certainly took me places...
